GAYNDAH to MURGON

13/08/05. Today we are at Gayndah the citrus Capital of Australia, we will spend the day and night at Zoehoven Park a rest stop, as we were just taking things easy another 2 vans pulled in and I could not believe my eye's they were both Spaceland's, wow 3 van's alike together, the occupant's are Country & Western and also gospel Singer's who travel and do shows in town's & they get free accommodation in some caravan park's.
Another couple have also pulled in for the night - they are from Tasmania and tour the Country in a converted old Ambulance and get work at various Orchard's picking fruit.
14/8/05. We moved into Gayndah Caravan Park, it is a bit run down there are a lot of backpacker's in this park, Sandra said that the manager is a bit of a "Hitler" guess that she would have to be?.
Peter and Barbara have come over from Childers to spend the night with us they have bought a Double Swag to sleep in, they set the swag up in our Annex, we are so close to the amenitie's and people are walking so close that we have told some of them not to use our annex as a short cut to the toilets
A lot of van park's up here in QLD pack you in like a tin of Sardine's - (no room to swing a cat), Barb & Pete slept in comfort and were not put of by people walking beside there Swag, Pete awoke the next morning in a lather of sweat, I asked Barb if a backpacker had piddled on him ? She just laughed and said that he perspire's a lot in the swag (Hmmm), they are off next year with freinds to do "The Desert trip" in there 4wd and Swagg`s to sleep in, good luck to them I wish that I had a 4wd.
15/8/05. It is Bank Holiday and only 1 shop, 1 museum, and the newsagent open for business. The Police are patrolling the streets as the "locals" have been doing a lot of Vanderlising in the town and have done a lot of damage to the park toilet's and shop front's and the free stop that we spent the night in, all the damage was done the night before we had set up camp.
The four of us spent most of the day in the Ban-Ban Homestead Museum - it is very good value for $3 a head, and then onto Archers Lookout for a Fantastic view of the town, that night Sandra cooked "Silverside" in Dry Ginger Ale - (Different) a recipe given to us by a couple of Grey Nomad's.
