CERATODUS

Restored Railway Station.
Ceratodus Rest Area
10/8/5. Up bright and early this morning we are heading south we have said our goodbye's to Brian & Neshta (She is Welsh) they are from Ballarat in Victoria, and were good company and they both enjoyed a drink or two at happy hour.
We are at another free stop at a place called Ceratodus named after the Queensland Lungfish that inhabit's the waters up this way - they are Protected, we ate by battery light under the stars and had a bird bath before going to bed, this is our new life now and we are rapt in this lifestyle on the road - we could not be Happier. This free stop here was once close to the site of the Mounted Native Police Force which was at Traylan only about 5 miles to the East of here, and was part of the colony of New South Wales.
The first white settler's arrived in 1849 and built the police barracks which were not just 'headquarters' for the N.S.W. Native Mounted Police but were a safe haven for the early settler's traveling through.
The Ceratodus Railway Station was built in 1924 and relocated to this free camping stop in 1977, the first load of Cotton was delivered to Ceratadus Railway by horse & cart in 1926, its` a very interesting area and well worth the 24 hours that you are allowed to stay here.
We have now moved into Mundubbera to look at the 'Big Orange" van park - it is a real FERRAL park with rubbish littering the Camp Kitchen area and all over park, it is mostly used by back packers, the guy in the office was so ignorant and could not care less, we quickly drove over the road to the Big 4 Three Rivers Tourist Park, which is a very tidy and clean park with a good swimming pool.
Sandra got her hair cut at the town center it's a eye opener , there are many Indigenous people here just sitting around not doing much. This place seems to be in a Time Warp the men's shop's sell women's clothing as well as men`s and the Ladies shops sell good quality gear but are so outdated and real Cowboy Clobber, the Cowboys drive around town in beaten up old ute's and truck's but they are so polite and courteous, and the old ladies gather around on shop seats & chat - one old Dear chatted to San & said Hi Mate what's` news and have a nice day and another old lady said to her what's` Happnen Girl , we both had a good laugh, you can learn a lot from old Folk ?
Back at camp a Korean guy gave us a few cooking tip's with vegetable's he satay's them in Soya Sauce it is so simple and easy to make. ( Judy & Ken rang to check on us )
12 /8 05. Woke at 9am, now we are feeling winter - so cold - car is covered in ice we had to open the bonnet to let the sun heat the battery before I could start it, that night on T.V. they said that Bundaberg had it's coldest ever day on record 9 Deg that is a normal day`s temp for Liverpool.
13/8/05. San came in from outside and said that it was Frigen Freezin and the car is all iced over again
We leave today for Gayndah hope that the weather is a lot warmer there.
