BLOGGING AGAIN IN 2010

After a lay off of almost 9 months, Sandra and I are back on the road for 2010.
I had a computer crash a couple of months back and lost a big part of last years blog trip, there is too much time and effort to try and catch up so I will have to start as from 1/07/2010. sorry.
The reason for the late start this year is Sandra was diagnosed with gall Bladder problems in February and was operated on in early May to remove the Gall bladder, the opp went well and after 7 weeks convalescing we have hit the road.
29/06/10. Stopping for a few days at Nambucca Heads to visit our good friends Ken & Judy. We stopped at the Nambucca Beach Caravan Park, where the sites are expensive and small we have stayed here before but not again.
Went to the local Chinese Restaurant with Ken and Judy, enjoyed the meal, it was sad to say good bye but we have to move on.
1/07/10. Arrived at Marg & Eddys home in Wyralla for a short stay, we were lucky as Mellisa & Paul and family including new Baby Chelsie Marie were there also.

4/07/10. Crossed the N.S.W./Q.L.D. border and camped at Jacobs Well on the Gold Coast, a very nice place we will have to come back here in the summer as it looks like a very good fishing spot.
The main reason for coming here was to see sister in law Dale and family but her mother was very ill and we only had a short stay.
10/0 7/10. Pete & Barbs Home Misty Gums – Apple tree Creek.

It’s great to see old Mates again we are staying here for about a week.Today we have

travelled out to Elliot Heads to visit more friends, Judy & Max our old neighbours from

Heckenberg, they are looking great both have lost weight and enjoying their life in the sunshine state. Back at Fuller’s corner, Sandra and I have enjoyed the walks around Barb & Pete’s property, the bird life is terrific, ducks on the pond, kangaroo’s grazing at the back steps.

12/07. Today Barb took us for a drive out to Paradise Dam about 30km East of Biggenden, the dam was named after the gold mining township of Paradise which is now under water. The dam’s capacity is 300,000 mega litres, and is stocked with Barramundi, Aussie Bass, Golden Perch, Silver Perch & a breeding population of Eel Tailed Catfish, forked Tailed Catfish, Spangled Perch & the endangered Q.L.D. Lung Fish, you can also camp close to the

water, so it looks good for a future stay.

Later the same day Barbara drove out to Mingo Crossing – the Crossing was a thriving Cattle Station in years gone by, you would be lucky to see only 1 sheep within 60 minutes of the area. Mingo is also a very good recreation area, set along the Burnett river.

and 450km north/west of Brisbane. We then drove into MT Perry which is still known for the Gold and Copper that can be found here, also a good Beef industry plus art and wood chopping competions. One of the most interesting sights near Mt Perry is the Boolboonda Tunnel, it extends 192 metres thru solid rock, it is unlined and unsupported and it was known to be the longest unsupported tunnel in the

Southern Hemisphere, it was built in 1883 for the rail line between Bundaberg and Mt Perry to service the Copper mines, now it is home to a colony of Bent Winged Bats Mount Perry
