8/08. Travelled down to the Murchison River rest area for an overnight stay, but I don't think we will get any sleep tonight as a Biker Group is camping on the other side of the river, they have a band, fireworks, a huge bonfire and floodlights, there is 150 - 200 of them here to celebrate 2 - 50ths birthdays and enough grog to fill a pub.
8/8.. After an almost sleepless night due to the bikers letting off Bungers & a Band that could not sing, although the drummer wasn't that bad, we packed up and drove out to Kalbarri.
9/8. It rained overnight, haven't seen or heard that for a long time.
Kalbarri has a number of lookouts to view the ocean, we were in for treat as we could see Whales out in the distance, mainly the air spurts as they surfaced, there were 5 or 6 of them, also went to an ocean aquarium and saw a great display of sea life in the Kalbarri area. Rain showers all day.
Next morning we were off to see a Bird Sanctuary at Red Bluff, with one of the best displays of parrots in Australia, "Black " Red tailed & Black "Yellow Tailed Cockatoos" as well as many Native Parrots some from New Guinea and Macaw's from the Amazon. a big walk through Aviary with birds flying all around us.
Also at Red Bluff is a Seahorse Factory to bread Seahorses for the Aquariums all over the World, this way they are trying to save them from being caught in the wild. Seahorses are a fish as they have fins and gills.

It has rained on and off for the last 3 days and it is getting colder as we head south down the coast, during a lull in the rain we left Kalbarri to drive to Northampton back out on the main highway, and it was pouring which made driving very difficult, a brief pause in the rain saw us at Pt Gregory, it was Amazing to see a Pink Lake (above right) as we drove in, how about that. Blue lake at Mount Gambier Pink Lake at Pt Gregory.
Hamburgers & Chips at Northampton were reasonably priced at$9.80, a lot cheaper than Kakadu ($19.90), after lunch we drove in the rain to OakaBella rest area to spend the night - took a walk and saw Spider Orchids and a number of different wild flower as well as Yellow Canola Fields.
14/8. Rained on and off all night, not a good nights sleep as the noise of the rain on the van roof was very loud.
We have moved camp once again this time to Geraldton.
We have moved camp once again this time to Geraldton.
Before setting up we had the van fridge looked at in Geraldton, as it won't run very good on gas, I don't think they could figure it out, 88 bucks and 2/half hours wasted.
Big winds overnight and the Sea Swells are huge. Drove to a lookout above Geraldton where a Memorial to H.M.A.S. was erected a few years back. Such a strange feeling Sandra said as she looked at a Statue of a Wife looking out to Sea, waiting for her Man to return home.
654 Lives were lost near here in a World War. 2 Battle between H.M.A.S. and the German ship Kormoron
17/8. Winds eased overnight - packed up and moved to a rest area at Lake Indoon, on our way to Cervantes.

18/8. Up early again and made the short drive down to Cervantes in the rain. On the way down we fueled up with gas at a servo and Sandra saw this Highway Patrol Vehicle when the cop got out she just had to take a photo of it.
As the weather is not that crash hot we will only stay here a night.
After setting up we drove out to Nambung national park to see the world famous Pinnacles Desert, they are mind blowing, the Pinnacles are 3 Kms inland from the beach. This Desert covers about 404 Hectares & is 60 metres above sea level, there are thousands of these Limestone Pillars some as tall as 4 metres, some have jaggered edges & some rise to a point at top, whilst others remind us of Tombstones, they were just amazing to see and we were able to drive the Ute amongst them.
19/8. After a long night of rain it cleared to a sunny day for our drive down to Perth.
Stopped for a coffee break at Regan's Ford near Gingin such a lovely spot with a creek now in flood but there are "No Camping signs" here so we will push on to Muchea roadhouse for lunch.

20/8. We are now in Perth and it is raining once again and does not look like easing up.
After 2 days of rain this morning it has stopped but looks like it could start up at any time. We have taken the pause to drive into Perth for a look see, Perth has the Swan River which winds through the suburb's, winding to a large lake near the city centre.
23/08/09. Today we left Perth, the rain is not letting up so we will take thing's easy as we head East for kalgoorlie. First st0p is Meckering about 130km from Perth.
Railway lines ,power lines comunacation lines and the water supply pipelines pass through Meckering. On the Queens birthday holiday in october 1968, tectonic plates clashed, pushing a fault line longer than 30 km to a maximum height of 2 metres, west of the town, the force of the earthquake severed the pipeline. It twisted and buckled both the standared guage railway line that connects between Perth and Kalgoorlie and the eastern states, and the narrow gauge railway line servicing Western Australia's south west.
