MAPLETON to WALU

30/10/06. Drove down to Mapleton N.W. of Nambour to see Fiona, Steve, Joe, Ben and Baby Lucy. The steep climb up the mountain's to Mapleton bought us back to reality, as we had to put on Trackie's and Jacket's, the weather is cold up here in the rain forest - not like what we have experienced on the coast.

31/10/06. Kylie and Shane's Anniversary today, sent them Congratulation's. Fiona and Lucy Called in to say goodbye as we are moving further down the coast to the New South Wales border town of Tweed Head's. Whilst driving across the Gateway Bridge north of Brisbane all hell broke loose, a truck up ahead lost a load of steel bar's, I managed to miss most of them but ran over two or three, luckily there was a side street at the end of the bridge, I pulled over to see if there was any damage to car or caravan, luck was on our side this time - no damage.
We have safely arrived at Boyd's Bay caravan park south of Tweed Heads and have booked in for a week.
Kylie rang to say that we can book into Walu caravan park at Budgewoi when we get back down for the Christmas Holiday break -( for two or three months?). Nothing much to talk about has happened here at the Tweed it has been a good rest for us both.
4/11/06. Shane and Shelly's Anniversary today (15 years). We are going down to spend some time with Fiona's parents, Marg & Eddie Edge at Wyralla. The photo below was taken the next morning with Fog in background.

As luck would have it today Louise is getting engaged to Matt and we have been invited to a party at the Bellowing Bull Restaurant in Wollungbah. It was a great night with all invited guest's enjoying the atmosphere, there was Coopers Beer on tap - my favourite, and the meal was out of this world. I ordered a Veal Shank it was HUGE, it looked like a leg of Lamb.
7/11/06. Said our Goodbyes to Marg and Eddie. We are now driving to Wooli - East of Grafton.
:: Wooli River ::
Settled into camp at Wooli, this caravan park is the 1st that you see as you enter town there is another one closer to the beach and river (pictured above), next time in Wooli we will stay at this one.
Three day's later we were driving out to Minnie Waters when we almost collided with a Emu, it was trotting down the middle of the road with not a care in the world.
There is a great caravan park at Minnie Waters close to the beach with some good walk's close at hand, we will definitely come here to stay when next on this part of the coast.
11/11/06. Left Wooli today and we have set up camp at Repton caravan park. Repton is about 20km south of Coffs Harbour. On the way here I missed the turn off to the park and ended up driving into the Bongil Bongil National Park, it looked a bit hairy for awhile as there was nowhere to turn around on this wet road, but luckily a bit further on there was a small site track leading into the bush - just enough room to reverse and turn around (I will have to take our logo " lost In Oz) of the back window?.
Next Day Judy and Ken drove out to see us, they have settled into there new home at Newie Creek. Judy had a rude awakening one morning as she opened the front door she was greeted by a 6ft Red Belly Black Snake - Sandra can relate with that incident. Last night was very hot 30 deg-sickening- up early and drove to Coffs Harbour for supplie's, today was another hot day with big wind's and no storm or rain. This van park is right on the waterfront and after 4 or 5 day's of solid rain it floods to about 5 feet, they tow the caravan's to higher ground up the hill with tractor's. We had some minor car trouble, the car alternator packed it in, there was a mechanic over the road from the caravan park he installed a new one for $350, luckily it gave up the ghost at the park and not on the road towing the van.
22/11/06. We are back at my Cousin Aurthur's home today at Failford for a few day's and then we are going to The Branch at Karuah to see Marcia and Darryl.

27/11/06. Marcia and Bro Daz met us at the Branch, it is good to see them again. Today is very hot 38 deg Darryl and I sat on chair's in the river to cool off with a couple of beer's, "life is good".

"Relaxing in the River."
Marcia and Sandra walked into the bush to collect firewood for the campfire tonight, Sandra kept an eye out for snake's as there are some black one's as well as the brown's about our camp. Marcia gave Sandra the skin of a brown snake it is about 7 feet long and found near the wood heap.

29/11/06. Packed up this morning after a bad storm last night and moved down the highway to Salt Ash, we are staying with old Friend's for a few days.
4/12/06. Today we have moved into Walu Caravan Park at Budgewoi, for a couple of month's until the weather cool's down and the Christmas break is over. Today is Shane's 38th Birthday, we will celebrate with the whole Family tonight.
