Nindigully Pub

Nindigully Pub
26/06/06. The Nindigully Pub was established in 1864 and is said to be one of the oldest Hotel's still operating in Queensland. The free camping area at the pub is huge' the biggest that we have seen, they have collected over 140 Akubra hat's from Stockmen over the year's as well as all type's of memorabilia from day's gone by. We had hot shower's at the back of the pub, Ram's for(men ) and Ewe's for (women) with a donation of a Gold coin for the two of us, when the shower's are not in use the "chooks" lay their "bum nuts" on the pallet's that you stand on to shower, there is a sign on the door that read's, "please close the door as Frog's get in and SNAKE'S just love to Eat frog's", as I stepped out of the shower I trod in a great heap of chook poop and had to wash my feet again (yuk).
The pub is beside the Moonie River and over the years the flood's have sunk the building to the floor board's and it now sit's on the ground, in the early 1880/s the pub was a Cobb & Co change over station. At night we have sat on the Porta Loo and watched the milky way and a fantastic show of star's, it is so dark I have not seen a display like this since I was a kid back in Gymea Bay. These are Sandra`s words - god luv her ( John is doing a great job of driving he love's the country so much, how lucky we are to be travelling this way). Up early after a freezing night and are having brekki in the sun (boy are we Lucky?). Robin and Graeme sent a message they are in Alice Springs and it is also minus deg over there - they are having a ball in the desert.
Later on we have spent a couple of hour's taking photo's and having a drink in the pub, tonight I take up the challenge in the dining room, if I can eat the 1 kilo T-bone Steak & the rest of the meal I get it for nix.
As we arrived at the pub that night there are at least 10 people with camera's to record my feat of trying to eat this steak. I lost and the T-bone cost me $25 but we still had a great night and the steak was finished the next day by Sandra and I. We have spent 5 memorable days at Nindigully - we were told that 7 people live in the town and 6 work at the pub, what a great place is the NINDIGULLY PUB.
