TOLDERODDEN and Onwards.

16/07/2010. Left Cracow and driving out west towards Emerald, where we will meet up with our good friends Neil and Lorraine at Theresa Dam, about 20km west of Clermont.
Last night we camped at another great Q.L.D. outback town of Theodore, in there showground’s, great amenities with hot showers and only $15.00 a night.
Left Theodore and pulled up at the Neville Hewitt Weir at Baralabar for lunch by the river, another nice spot to stay in the future, also I was told that a guy last night caught a big Barra.
Lunch over and on our way again. Driving through the small town of Dauringa we decided to stay the night at the town’s camp site.
After a good sleep we are on the move again, passing through more small towns namely Dingo & Comet, Comet’s pub used to have free accommodation at the rear if you bought a beer but not anymore, so no beer for us, we then drove once more out west.
Very large vehicles on the road today, we were waved down

by a Cop, had to pull over to let it pass, & at a very awkward spot and only just made it in as it came around the bend in the road. (very close)

15/07/2010. We have the camp area to ourselves; it’s on the Burnett River a quiet rest area not much traffic to bother us. After a good night’s rest we drove back to Eidsvold to look around, not a wow town, not what we expected, just the name would have you think that there is a lot of European influence in town, having said that it was named by some Norwegian pioneers back in the mid 1800’s There are no more than a dozen shops in all but a great butcher shop who sold fresh local killed meat and at a good price; the smoked ham was the best that we have had in a long time, so it was not a complete waste of time stopping here.
After a look and some shopping we drove West to the almost Ghost Town of Cracow, a lot of old derelict shops, and 1 pub that is still operating today the staff were overseas, back packers earning a small wage to carry them onto another destination. The pub is owned by a Mister Noel Brophy and his wife Sandra, Noel used to operate a tent boxing troupe in the outback towns in several states throughout the country. Old memorabilia hanging from walls and ceilings to add some character to the place. )
