Alice Springs to Daly Waters

19/04. We were once again taking by the beauty of the country side on our trip up the centre of Australia. The rock formation scenery around Alice Springs is absolutely breathtaking.
Alice Springs is known for the Culture Clubs - some local Artists are from the Papunya, Titjkala and Utopia Communities and are producing some of the worlds best Aboriginal paintings.
The Todd River is as dry as a bone and looks like a rubbish dump, some of the people here have no pride in themselves or the City it is such a shame to see it this way, not a very nice sight for the visiting Tourists.
(1) Drovers Memorial at Newcastle Waters. (2) Aliens at Wycliffe Wells. (3) Spirit Cabinet at the Ti Tree Hotel
1. The Drovers Memorial is dedicated to all Drovers who herded Cattle in this area in the pioneering days. 2. The UFO capital of Australia - Wycliffe Wells - N.T. (Believe it or Not) there have been many sightings of UFOs? in this remote part of the Northern Territory. 3. The Spirit Cabinet in the Ti Tree Hotel - Roadhouse. This is a very good stop for refreshments, the coffin is believed to belong to "Flo" a Previous Owner? 4. The old Barrow Creek Telegraph Station. This small community was in the news all over the world a few years back. Joanne Lees was bought back to the roadhouse here after the abduction of her and Peter Falconio. 5. Banka Banka Station is part of the Kidman Empire with 3 farm stations in this district. The Laundry block here is in bad shape and needs a lot of T.L.C. Sandra put some washing in the machine it started to wash and then stopped, she called the female manager, she was not to concerned, she said San should of checked before she put the washing in, a Dead FROG was caught in the agitator, bits and pieces all over a blanket, not good enough I am sure we won't be back here again.

6. This old church is still used today for special occasions. 7. The Daly Waters Pub was a Hospital during ww2, Daly Waters was the 1st International Airport in Australia, build in the 1930s. 8. Frank Turner Busked for 16 years at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, he is a big fan of Johnny Cash and has meet him on several occasions. Frank also build some of his own guitars which he still uses today, these days his main claim to fame is here at the Daly Waters Pub singing to a big audience with a hat on his head made like a house with a couple of Chooks sitting on top, which he reckons are baby wedge tail eagles, he is a great character. 9. The inside of the pub is typical of a lot of Outback pubs in that it is chock a block with all sorts of memorabilia hanging from walls & ceiling's such as Bras, Undies, money, old T-shirts, Farm gear and outside a Thong tree, a big Bundy bear, old Car parts, etc. 10. Annie Bavin is a Fantastic Saxophonist who can entertain for over an hour Flat Out, she has energy to burn, a Real pocket Rocket, before she learnt to play the Saxophone she was a Drummer.
